About Aire Driveways UK
After traveling to Europe for many years and experiencing the freedom of reaching a town and stopping for free for a night or two in an Aire. I became frustrated with the lack of free camping areas in the UK. In England we currently only have 16 official Aires, although there are some unofficial ones as well. Across the borders in Wales and Scotland the Aire coverage is also very minimal. Over crowded campsites, difficulty in booking CS sites and having to stay in one place too long, led me to look for a solution for safe, free over night stops in the UK.
Many of us have driveways that accommodate our own vans and have space for visiting vans. The Motorhome Community is full of fun loving freedom seekers who like the pull of the open road and the excitement of arriving in different destinations, without having to plan, book and pay deposits well in advance, After all don’t we all watch the weather and head off when the sun is beating on our backs.
We have always enjoyed our friends staying for a couple of nights on our driveway. So we thought why not offer our own drive to other like minded Motorhome users and the concept of Airedriveways was born.
We live in a nice area and enjoy informing our fellow motorhome community members of local walks and places of interest to visit, along with knowledge of good local places to eat and drink. By setting up a community site where others can join and offer their driveways as an overnight stopover we are creating an ever growing network of free stopovers throughout the UK.
